This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Jersey City Theater Center collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Jersey City Theater Center (“JCTC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through jctcenter.org (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information You Provide to Us
When you use a form on this Site – including our Volunteer, Join the Board, Become a Sponsor, Contacts, Private Event booking, or newsletter signup forms – we collect your name, email, and other details relevant to your inquiry, which may include phone number, organization, availability, and areas of interest, depending on the specific form. Submissions are stored securely and archived as a backup copy in our website’s administration system.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, we (and our service providers) automatically collect standard technical information when you visit the Site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and the site that referred you.
Donations
When you make a donation, we collect your name, email address, the donation amount, and your chosen payment method, and store this information in our own records. We use this to provide you a donation receipt and to maintain donor records as required for a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your card number and other payment credentials are entered directly into secure fields provided by PayPal – we never see or store your card details on our own servers. Donation records are retained for at least five years, consistent with IRS recordkeeping requirements for public charities; see Data Retention below.
Tickets
Tickets to our events are sold through our ticketing partner, Eventim (formerly See Tickets). See our Refund Policy for details on ticket refunds and exchanges.
Cookies and Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Meta Pixel to understand how visitors use the Site and to measure our advertising. We also use a one-time, IP-based region check (MaxMind) solely to show the correct cookie-consent options for your region; this check is not stored long-term. See our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies and technologies we use, and how to manage your preferences.
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for interpreting DNT signals, this Site does not currently respond to them differently. We do, however, automatically honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by supporting browsers, which disables marketing and advertising tracking tools for your visit – no action needed from you.
How We Use This Information
We use the information described above to respond to your inquiries, process donations and volunteer/board/sponsor applications, operate and improve the Site, communicate with you (including newsletters, where you’ve signed up), and comply with legal obligations.
Third Parties
We share information with service providers who help us operate the Site and our organization, including PayPal (donation processing), Eventim/See Tickets (ticket sales), Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Ads), and Meta (Facebook/Instagram advertising). Each of these third parties processes information under its own privacy policy.
Data Retention
We retain form submissions and related records for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law, after which we delete or anonymize them. Donation records specifically are retained for a minimum of five years to meet IRS recordkeeping requirements for public charities; after that period, we may anonymize older donation records (removing name and email) while retaining aggregate financial data for our own accounting and reporting.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Your Rights
To ask about, correct, or request deletion of information we hold about you, contact us at info@jctcenter.org.
California Residents (CCPA)
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The CCPA generally exempts nonprofit organizations such as JCTC; we provide this notice as a best practice, and will honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals and any additional required mechanisms if and when they apply to us. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@jctcenter.org.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date above.
